We’re excited – there’s something going on in the gardens!!

The fairies came to the Summerland Ornamental Gardens and told us they are looking for some homes. So, we gave them a fairy garden to live in, build their houses, and raise their families.

Why a fairy garden?

They are enchanting, the detail and devotion will engage you, and, if it has that effect on adults, just think how bewitching they are for children. What are they? They are miniature gardens filled with magic meant to be a place of relaxation to engage with mother nature. Our fairy garden is a place for families to explore and connect with each other.

What is a fairy garden?

They are miniature gardens filled with magic. Tiny houses, chairs, bird houses, tea pots, lawns, and ponds – fairy worlds which you create in any space you have – inside or out. A corner of a flower bed, inside a stump, alongside a creek, under a tree; typically, they are small enough they’ll fit in any space.

Fairies are peaceful yet mischievous magical folk that like to frolic and dance in the gardens! They enjoy both the wild and manicured parts of the Ornamental Gardens.

For who?

The fairies of course! It’s a cliché but it’s true – they are for ‘children of all ages’ and how far you go with it is limited only by your imagination. How to start? One of the many wonderful things about fairy gardens is that you can start small and build up over time. We encourage families to participate and enjoy!

Please bring your little ones and let them build in the fairy garden. Construction needs to be as natural as possible and not harmful to the birds or squirrels and chipmunks.
